example/book/custom/custom_widget doesn't work properly (or is it me? :-))

Hello,
I'm new to gtkmm programming and i'm trying to make a custom widget (for
using libxine in a project). I thought  starting from
examples/book/custom/custom_widget was good idea. The example compiles
fines but othing is drawn in the  myWidget 's GDK::Window.  Any idea ?
