GTK+-2.8.9 installation strangeness

Hi there,

The GTK+-2.8.9 windows XP setup program is claiming ther eis a previous GTK+
version installed on my machine.  GTK+-2.6.9 was uninstalled and no longer
seen in the program list from the "Add/Remove Programs" menu.

I no longer have a version of GTK+-2.6.9 to run a manual uninstall.  what can
I  do - clues please?
