Can't compile gtk in Irix 6.2

Hello!

I am trying to compile gtk+-0.99.3 in an Indy R5000 under Irix6.2 using
./configure to generate Makefiles. I have the following message (using
either native cc or gcc 2.7.2.1):

.......
creating testglib
Making all in gdk
make: file `Makefile' line 456: Syntax error
*** Error code 1 (bu21)
*** Error code 1 (bu21)

The referred line in ./gdk/Makefile is

$(DEP_FILES): $(BUILT_SOURCES)


Can anyone help me on this matter?
