GTKSourceView - Case Sensitivity

I asked a question not long ago about case sensitivity with textBuffers
and was kindly advised to use gtksourceview. So I did this and I've
discoverered the gtk_pattern_tag_new which looks like it does the job
well, highlighting certain parts of text. My question is, how can I
tell this function to be case insensitive?
Or will I have to resort to the xml (lang) solution?
