[GnomeMeeting-list] Which gnome packages are needed for Mac OS X compilation?

Hi,

I am working in Mac OS X (10.2.3, which has the following version of gcc installed):

% gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/3.1/specs
Thread model: posix
Apple Computer, Inc. GCC version 1175, based on gcc version 3.1 20020420 (prerelease)

I've been able to compile pwlib and openh323 directly from the sources. The mailing list seemed to indicate some time ago that a special compilation of pwlib with something called ESD was required, but I haven't tried that yet, as the above compilations from source seemed to go OK.

Next, on to GnomeMeeting itself. I found that it was complaining about a lack of pkg-config upon initial configuration, so I downloaded and compiled pkg-config from the source after applying the fololowing fix suggested byt eh package maintainer:

Hi,

Adding -no-cpp-precomp to the CPPFLAGS will help you.

Apple's gcc have capability of using preprocessed header, which reduces
compilation time. But, it fails with an header file that comtains
complicated macros like glib. -no-cpp-precomp disable that feature.

You can tell the configure script to use -no-cpp-precomp by the command
like this:

% setenv CPPFLAGS -no-cpp-precomp
% ./configure

Cheers,

... which worked. Unfortunately, there were still complaints that seemed to be related to missing items.

Hmm, time for a more thorough approach. I downloaded the latest version of fink in source code form (the binary would not work with my 5.8.0 version of perl), and recompiled it from source, which worked. Next, loaded up FinkCommander (binary worked this time), and voila! I have a list of many many gnome packages that I could download and install through fink if needed, e.g:

status	name	installed	binary	stable	unstable	category	summary
gnome-applets 1.4.0.5-3 gnome	Various applets for GNOME panel
current	gnome-audio	1.4.0-3 1.4.0-3 sound	Audio files for Gnome

gnome-games 1.4.0.4-2 gnome	GNOME games collection

gnome-libs 1.4.2-1 gnome	Base libraries for GNOME
gnome-libs-dev 1.4.2-1 gnome	Base libraries for GNOME
gnome-libs-shlibs 1.4.2-1 gnome	Base libraries for GNOME
gnome-mime-data 2.0.1-2 gnome	The GNOME MIME database
gnome-print 0.36-2 gnome Gnome Print - Printing libraries for GNOME gnome-print-dev 0.36-2 gnome Gnome Print - Printing libraries for GNOME gnome-print-shlibs 0.36-2 gnome Gnome Print - Printing libraries for GNOME
gnome-python 1.4.2-1 gnome	Python bindings for GNOME
gnome-user-docs 1.4.1.1-2 gnome	General GNOME User Documentation
gnome-utils 1.4.1.2-3 gnome	GNOME utility programs
gnome-vfs 1.0.5-5 gnome	The GNOME virtual file-system libraries
gnome-vfs-dev 1.0.5-5 gnome The GNOME virtual file-system libraries gnome-vfs-shlibs 1.0.5-5 gnome The GNOME virtual file-system libraries gnome-vfs-ssl 1.0.5-5 crypto The GNOME virtual file-system libraries, with SSL support gnome-vfs-ssl-dev 1.0.5-5 crypto The GNOME virtual file-system libraries, with SSL support gnome-vfs-ssl-shlibs 1.0.5-5 crypto The GNOME virtual file-system libraries, with SSL support
gnomemm 1.2.2-6 gnome	C++ interface for the GNOME libraries
gnomemm-shlibs 1.2.2-6 gnome C++ interface for the GNOME libraries

So the question is: which of the above (if any) do I need to attempt a full compilation of GnomeMeeting? Everything? Only the core libraries? (If so, the gnome-core or gnome-core-dev versions?), etc?

Help would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Alan
