GnomeVFS URI chaining and nautilus

Hi,

does anyone know why nautilus doesn't simply use gnome-vfs uri
chaining to be able to open/read archives?

Gnomevfs seems to be fine with it. Is there any reason why this
doesn't work in nautilus? (Asking here because this list is more silent
than nautilus-devel)

Regards,
  Sven
