I had some trouble here, it seems I needed the FQDN in the 
hotsync->primary pc name as well as the IP address.

If you want some fun, do a tcpdump on the ppp device it creates and 
watch the non-sense that comes out of the palm. My pc has address 
10.10.10.196 and the first thing it tried was 196.10.10.10, v strange.

Its does all work in the end thou :)
