Can't get Zire72s to work

I've added the line:

SYSFS{idVendor}="0830", SYSFS{idProduct}="0061",
NAME="Zire", SYMLINK="pilot"

to /etc/udev/rules.d/05-marks.rules

I've added the lines:

 <!-- Palm Zire -->
 <device vendor_id="0830" product_id="0061" />

to /usr/share/gnome-pilot/devices.xml

I got the values from udev info

  looking at the device chain at
'/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:09.0/usb1/1-2/1-2.4':
    BUS="usb"
    ID="1-2.4"
    SYSFS{bConfigurationValue}="1"
    SYSFS{bDeviceClass}="00"
    SYSFS{bDeviceProtocol}="00"
    SYSFS{bDeviceSubClass}="00"
    SYSFS{bMaxPower}="  2mA"
    SYSFS{bNumConfigurations}="1"
    SYSFS{bNumInterfaces}=" 1"
    SYSFS{bcdDevice}="0100"
    SYSFS{bmAttributes}="c0"
    SYSFS{detach_state}="0"
    SYSFS{devnum}="11"
    SYSFS{idProduct}="0061"
    SYSFS{idVendor}="0830"
    SYSFS{manufacturer}="PalmOne, Inc."
    SYSFS{maxchild}="0"
    SYSFS{product}="Palm Handheld"
    SYSFS{serial}="3030573441344C3535473042"
    SYSFS{speed}="12"
    SYSFS{version}=" 1.00"

When I try to add the new pilot using gpilot-control-applet
using the values:

User Name - Mark Healey
ID - 500
Pilot Name - Zire72s
Local basedir /home/mark/Pilots/Zire72s

I set the Device settings to
Port - dev/pilot
Speed - 9600
Timeout - 100
Type - USB

I hit the Get from pilot button and it managed to retrieve the user and ID but every time I try to sync the Zire times out.

How do I make this one work?
