Hi! Some time ago i posted help request in pilot-link list.
I think problem with treo not gnome-pilot related. 
libpisock.so can't talk with treo 180 & may be others.

My post to pilot link list:

"I`m owner sony clie and handspring treo 180g.
Pilot-link works perfectly with clie and treo, but 
when I sync my treo with gnome-pilot -
gpilotd can not connect to treo.

I noticed difference with pilot-link-debug.log from sony clie sync and
