Compile of control-center fails (gdk_pixbuf)

Subject: Compile of control-center fails (gdk_pixbuf)

Greetings,

I got gdk_pixbuf 0.16.0 installed.
The ./configure shipped with control-center cannot find it, though,
and stops with the message "Unknown library 'gdk_pixbuf'".

I executed ldconfig, but it keeps on failing.

Is anyone able to help me?
Any suggestions appreciated!
