color of text fragments

Hello,

I need some text ascending within a window that changes color letter by
letter.

What is the best widget to do this kind of stuff?

I had a glance at gnome-canvas but I am not sure about changing colors
of letters within the same canvas-text-item.

Can someone tell me?
