Well, I compiled gnome-libs 1.2.13 last weekend on a plain SuSE 7.2 box.
It worked with no problems. AFAICS only the db-[devel-]3.1.17 packages are
installed from the CDs. And make sure you add --enable-prefer-db1 to the
./configure line.
