Instalation under Solaris 8

Hi all,

I'm just new to Solaris, currently running version 8 on a ultra 5 and
trying to install Gnome 1.2 on it (with the 
latest-solaris-installer). When i try to run the installer from the
console, it says that it needs a "Palette" to run. Does anyone encountered
this before and knows the solution to it?
