Whoops! Where did it go?

Yesterday I opened Gnome for the first time. Then I did a dumb newbie
thing -- at least I *think* I did.

I somehow managed to annihilate the GMC file manager. I thought I was
closing the Window...but now I can't get it to reopen.

Where did it go? Can I get it back? More to the point, can I disable
annihilate so this doesn't happen again?
