gnome-ppp

What/where is the lock file that gnome-ppp uses to lock the modem?  I had
a power failure while online and now gnome-ppp barks that the modem is in
use by another program.  This is impossible since the machine rebooted.
Root (of course) can get gnome-ppp to work, but normal users can not.

Now, if Linux could find a way to be immune from power outages...
