gdm and esd

Now I have seen that the coders have had their nose in the code the past
few days, but I would like to get this message to them:

gdm (.8) seems to start a user-run esd daemon at login, but does *not*
seem to kill it when he/she logs out again. The result is predictable:
at the next login, gdm tries to start another esd daemon and it doesnt
work, and neither does sound for that session.
