Screensaver bug ?

  Hate to post this again but last time I did I didn't get any feedback.
I seem to be having problems with the screensaver or don't understand
how its supposed to work.
  Once I have a gnome session going I go into control center and set the
appropriate screensaver and settings, save things and exit. All is well,
lock screen and the screensaver both work and bring up the expected
screensaver and I see there is a '~/.gnome/Screensaver' file:

[Default]
nice=10
waitmins=10
dpmsmins=20
dpms=false
password=false
mode=Flame

  And ps shows:

mhall     5749  0.0  2.5  2708  1624   1 S    12:10   0:00 xscreensaver -no-splash -timeout 10 -nice 10 -xrm *programs:\011/usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/flame -root

  However, once I quit the current session and restart, xscreensaver is
started in the default mode, a ps shows:

11182   1 S    0:00 /bin/bash -c xscreensaver >/dev/null 2>&1
11184   1 S    0:00  \_ xscreensaver

  I can go back into control center and my settings are still there as well
as my '~.gnome/Screensaver' file. For whatever reasons something is picking
up on my saved settings and whenever I start a session I have to go into
control center and resave things before my settings again take effect.
  Shouldn't xscreensaver be started using the saved settings when a session
is started or do I have something wrong here ?
