Shuttdown/halt with "g'nite" in Gnome

I've noticed that the "shutdown" and "halt" do not work with the
g'nite button (I put it on the panel). It exits and saves ok.

I am also using "init 5" as a startup command now (cute penguin) and
the way I shutdown is to do it through a terminal window. Seems to
work ok.

I normally leave the puter on 24/7 but I am going back and forth in
OS's at present.

The more I use gnome, the more I am amazed at it's power and
versatility....
