The proposed modules
--------------------
The module list for GNOME 2.8 is not frozen yet, but it's very likely
that at least Evolution will become a part of GNOME 2.8. Therefore, and
because it has over 4000 messages, it's important that teams that want
to have a good translation coverage of GNOME 2.8 start translating it
and the other proposed modules as soon as possible now.
The teams that haven't yet touched Evolution include:
af bn br bs cy eo gd gu gv he hi ia id ka kn kw li mi mr nds NFE
nds_DE ne pa sr ije ta te tg th tk uz uz Latn yi
If you're a member of any of these teams, please consider starting to
translate Evolution and the other proposed modules aswell now. There's
not that much time left (less than two months) until translations for
GNOME 2.8 have to be finalized (see the schedule at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.7/), and with the size of these modules,
time is definately short. If you haven't even looked at these modules
yet, it's probably time to do so.
The relevant Translation Project modules
----------------------------------------
It's easy to forget that there are modules relevant to GNOME also in our
sister project, the Translation Project
(http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/contrib/po/HTML/). These modules include:
shared-mime-info
gstreamer
gst-plugins
iso_3166
xfree86_xkb_xml
unicode-translation
unicode-han-translation
cantus_3 (proposed GNOME 2.8 software)
The translations of the first ones above are really visible in the GNOME
desktop and important! Please also have a look at translating these
modules in the TP. The other ones (unicode*, cantus_3) are probably not
that important, but for a properly translated GNOME desktop experience
you probably can't go without the first ones being translated.
Please consider all of this just as a friendly reminder that if you want
good translation support in GNOME 2.8, you need to start looking at all
these proposed modules and relevant TP modules as soon as possible now.
In the hope of good translation support in the final GNOME 2.8,
Christian
