Status for .desktop and other non-po files

Is it possible to have status pages for .desktop or other files that
need translation and are not po? As far as I understand, an application
isn't fully translated until the desktop files, the UI (po file) and the
docs are translated, but our efforts are almost wholly directed at UI
translation.
