That really solves the problem! :)gnome-hackers has been very quiet recently. It would at leastsolve the problem of clutter on d-d-l :)
But to change this, you need to have the gnome-hackers list shed its impression of being the old, stuffy and boring list that nobody really bothers with in these modern days. As almost all the action is in d-d-l, why would people take the time to be bothered about gnome-hackers?
I think any project with multiple mailing lists has this problem. And a major factor is inappropriate cross-posting. It is often good to cross-post the initial email so that people are in theloop. But then _say in the email_ which list you expect the discussion to go on. And set follow-ups :)
Without cross-posts, gnome-hackers would be a relatively empty list ;-)
This is actually in the Gnome Enhancement Procedure stuff, isn'tit? There's a bit about where discussion is to take place. Perhaps we should be doing that more on the lists in general?
GEP appears to have died more than a year ago, though.
