Well, as I said in reply to your corresponding post on the usability
list, I wouldn't consider this less important at all-- working out the
best defaults for the desktop would certainly benefit from a usability
study as much as any of the other things we've considered so far.

At the risk of repeating myself, I disagree... certainly within Sun,
application defaults and branding are issues that are largely tackled by
the usability team, so I don't see why they couldn't be tackled by the
GNOME usability community too.
