Manage relatively big number of strings

Hello everybody!

	I am developing a program which needs to load and edit (possibly) a big
number of strings (maybe long strings). Which is the 'standard' way of
doing this in a GNOME program? Should I use gnome-db? Should I use
standard gnu database libraries? (I don't need to be a databse
server/client, I only want to manipulate them as cleanly as possible).
