Jeff and I had a chat about this a while back that went along the lines
of:

Jeff puts out a 2.6.0 tarball, then I take over 2.6.x while he gets to
introduce all sorts of funkey new things into GARNOME for 2.7.x (as is
his want :))

Unfortunately, Jeff has been busy with other things, so I went ahead and
put up my arch tree, which is 2.6.0 + updates and patches on the way to
2.6.1 -- this was meant to be an interim step so we could get our houses
in order and do some sort of tree merging at some point, but obviously
-- that hasn't happened yet.

I _do_ have a working tarball tree for 2.6.x that builds on GCC 2.95.x
and 3.2.x which will probably become "GARNOME 2.6.1 (tm)" in the very
near future, but i'd like to confirm that Jeff is cool to make it
'official' before pushing it out to the masses.

That said, i'd be happy to provide tarball snapshots of the stable
branch for those who want them -- purely on a 'they build for me, but
might not for you' basis until everything gets sorted.

Regards,

Paul
