That may be related to my problem.  GCC should
have -I/usr/local/include/freetype2 as part of the command line (so that
freetype/ would be included correctly), but there may be a stray -I before
it causing GCC to ignore it.  I had this problem with atk and glib and used
that work-around before I realised what the real problem was.
