starting over (?)

I recently compiled garnome 0.18.2 (just the gnome-desktop). Somehow all
my icons have disappeared from the menus and desktop. Can I delete any
configuration files in my home directory so I can once again log into
GARNOME 'fresh'? And if so, what are they?
