rhythmbox

Hello,

What sound deamon/drivers does one need to run rhythmbox successfully? 
I am using (what ever standard drivers come with debian/sid) and esd
(default for gnome2)...  Is this not right?  I remember reading
something, on the rhythmbox website, about only support for oss?  What
is oss?
