The latest stuff has only been posted to the mailing list. See the
hacking-0.19.1 bits.

Each piece of software may or may not error out sanely.

There are lots of posts on the list about issues like this. You need to do a
bit of debugging, and work it out (I would be surprised if it weren't a
fontconfig issue).

Yes, or use GARNOME 0.17.x for the stable branch. If you aren't interested
in testing GNOME, GARNOME is not for you.
