gnome cvs question

two questions:

in general, in cvs servers, is the folder with the apps name on it
usually the stable or beta/development version of the app...

eg. is cvs/gnome/gnome for gnome.org's cvs server the stable, or
development version?

second: gnome2 is now officially stable right?
