It could be nice to try to contact again the Gtkvts developers and send them
this short report with all the issues you have found, in order to get some
feedback from them.

One thing we could still do is using gtkvts in the continuous integration
loop as a huge bunch of "legacy tests" that can be more or less helpful (to
be determined); we would develop (and promote the development by third
parties of) the new tests using tools like check.
