The iTms/SharpMusique plugin will get some love soon. You can check out
a first pass at it and install it as a plugin for Banshee. It is fairly
new and lacks a lot of features and integration. You can only buy one
song at a time right now.

That will let you purchase non-DRMed music from the iTunes store.
However, the same problem exists:

If you have used your Apple account with iTunes 6, your account is
flagged, and you cannot purchase music using an older iTunes or
SharpMusique as it does not support the new protocol. Basically, if
you've never used iTunes 6... DON'T.

If you have... the only real option is like Peter says... burn to CD in
iTunes, rip it in Banshee. This is what I have done for some 40 CDs. It
sucks.
