Re: [Banshee-List] Help needed on Banshee

Thanks for this quick answer.

Ok for gstreamer 0.10.

The Banshee FAQ says we can get AAC support with some GStreamer 0.8 packages (http://banshee-project.org/Distributions/Ubuntu). Does this work for AAC encoding and playback? Or must I forget AAC for time?

Dear all,
i'm quite new to banshee and I need some help to use it with my 5G iPod.

First question:
what's the purpose of having a normal encoding profile and an iPod one? And
how does this work? Just drag & drop CD content on my iPod?

The normal encoding profile is what Banshee imports your CDs with, the
iPod profile is what Banshee will use to transcode your tracks (from
your library) before transferring to your iPod (or other portable
player).

Second question:
How can I encore my CD in AAC? I've read dozens of tuto and FAQ and...I can
produce m4a files with sound juicer but I can't play these files with
Rythmbox or Banshee: "format not supported', or "not a audio MPEG4 file"...

At the moment, you can't produce valid m4a/mp4 files with GStreamer
0.10 - the faac GST element produces an AAC stream well enough, but
there's no mp4 muxer (basically, something that writes "here's the
start of this bit, it's 200 samples long, 12KB"), and without that
information it's impossible to play the stream. This will work as
soon as
1) Someone writes an MP4 muxer for GStreamer
2) Someone fixes the ff_mux elements, because FFmpeg has an mp4 muxer.

Thanks for your help.
