[Shotwell] Issue 2364: Deleting an image loses cursor position

This bug: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/2364 really bothers and I
want to fix it, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get
Shotwell to build on Ubuntu 10.10 (meerkat).

Is there something that I can start doing to make progress on either
of those fronts?  I've never used Vala before but I feel confident if
I can get past building it I can fix this problem.
