Yes, you are right. I just tried it out just now. I still think it's
not as user-friendly as it should be. I consider myself to be an
advanced user of computer applications and I haven't figured this out
on my own. Many of the basic users won't even know what filters are so
they wouldn't be able to use this method at all.

Also, rating and selecting is not quite the same in my opinion.
Imagine you have a blurry photo which is important to you to represent
an event - you would give it a bad rating, but might still want to
select it - or vice versa.

I included your method in the feature description and my own opinion
regarding it.
