Hello,

my name is Dražen and I graduated computer science in Croatia a couple of
weeks ago. I am a big fan of Ubuntu and open source and I would like to
start contributing to open source as much as I can. Since I also do amateur
photography and I use Shotwell for organising my photos, I thought this
would be a very good target project.

So, a couple of things:
- there is a feature I would like to add to Shotwell - picking good photos
from an event. My ideal workflow in photography would be: importing photos
-> picking the good ones (archiving the rest - you never know when you might
want to see them) -> editing them -> publishing them

Now, all of this is possible in Shotwell, but the picking (which is only
available partially as marking, but it drags the photos out of the context
of events and doesn't offer much more - like hiding the non-marked photos
etc.) I think it would be nice to create a new way to _pick good photos_ and
be able to use this information to for example hide the rest of the photos
from an event, publish only the picked photos etc.

- another feature I would like to add, maybe at a later stage, is connecting
Shotwell with the recently released Ubuntu One API to allow people to
synchronize the picked and edited photos between their machines and be able
to access them from a laptop for example (maybe even the web)

- where do you think it would be best for me to begin? Maybe start with some
existing bug to get to know the lay of the code or start working directly on
the task I proposed? Any proposals or comments?

Best regards,
Dražen
