Arun already answered that one.

They have nothing to do with each other. One is a set of
developer-oriented tools based on GUPnP libraries and the other is a
library. The tools are all client-side while gupnp-dlna is more useful
for server/renderer side and thats why none of the tools use it (even
if tools were written after gupnp-dlna that would still be the case).

DLNA only makes things much more specific/strict in already
existing UPnP specs and defines a set of profiles that identify media.
While the former part is covered by ALL the GUPnP libraries, the
latter is covered by gupnp-dlna.
