A later version of GTK+ (I guess you have GTK+ 2.11.x or 2.12.x) had
this annoying API change, though I thought that they fixed it before
releasing the stable GTK+ 2.12.0.

You should use gtkmm 2.12 if you have GTK+ 2.12. Actually, you should
just use your distro's packages.
