select a row in treeview when the parent is collapsed

Hi all
I've a simple question according the api of gktmm.
i use a treeview, and i want to select a row by the select() method. But when the row is deep in the hirarchy, it is not selected. At first i must expand the path to the row. But how can i do that? I have only the row object
not the path object, that is needed by the expand method.
Can anyone help me?
