The only difference I'm seeing on my FC5 box is: i don't get the 
unhandled ioctl warning. I'm not sure what to tell you, I've never had 
gtkmm apps behave badly on FC5 before. Is you box fully updated ? If 
not, please run 'yum update' first, and restart X.
