Committed changes. ChangeLog entry is also visible in the patch.
I have managed to keep the reftaking _CONVERSIONs for PrintContext in the hg
files. Not for PaperSize.

I've committed it to HEAD, gtkmm-2-8, and gtkmm-2-6. Do I need to go back to

As I mentioned on the gtkmm mailing list, we've dropped the idea of using
libgnomecanvasmm, so there's probaby nobody waiting for a resolution of this
issue anymore. Feel free to close as WONTFIX if that's the case.

So, I know see a window when I choose File/Preview. It shows a spin button and
a close button and nothing else.

I made some changes and fixed some crashes that valgrind found.
I now see the text, as in the screenshot, and it doesn't crash for me at all.
However, it does not open the preview dialog a second time.
