This is probably being done in hardware.

Looks like the lid event isn't being sent. You can either use 2.23.x
and use HAL to get this event, or use DeviceKit-power 008 and git
master. If neither of this works, you need to look at the acpi and
kernel layers to make sure the event is being sent correctly.
