An update on this.
I have found the problem to be that with the icons installed in their
default locations in gnome-power-manager-2.20, the gnome power manager
notification area icon only displays correctly if the current icon theme
chosen is a scalable (SVG) icon theme such as "Crystal SVG". Any other
icon theme shows the problem described in the posting thread.
With gnome-power-manager-2.20, I therefore get correct results if I
either:
(a) install all the icons in {prefix}/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps,
{prefix}/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/apps, etc, (which was the behaviour
of gnome-power-manager-2.18), or
(b) pick a SVG icon theme.
The only particularly non-standard feature of my gnome installation is
that the prefix is /opt/gnome2 rather than /usr.
Chris
