Actually, the Function keys (Fn-F4 and Fn-F5) allow me to change the
brightness. Also, i could notice the brightness automatically decreasing
when the laptop is switched to Battery mode. However, i am not able to
find the Brightness related settings in Gnome Power Manager preferences
as i have already mentioned.
Thanks and regards

Apparently, my previous response was held because of the attachment

Here is the info.
# rpm -qa | grep -i hal
hal-devel-0.5.8.1-4.fc6
hal-0.5.8.1-4.fc6
hal-cups-utils-0.6.2-4.2
hal-gnome-0.5.8.1-4.fc6
# rpm -qa | grep -i power
gnome-power-manager-2.16.0-3.fc6
I have attached the file lshal.out.gz to this e-mail.
Nice one, thanks. It looks like HAL did not detect your laptop panel
device. How you you change brightness on the command line? Some laptop
hardware you cannot change the brightness automatically due to a
hardware or software constraint.
Richard.
