Please note that contact closure UPS-es are still far from extinct. At
least here in the Netherlands new ones are on sale. These devices are
impossible to auto-detect and you might even risk shutting them down
instantly when trying to do serial PnP on them. If we go in a direction
where configuration files can't be used anymore, we will lose support
for them.
