Well, hardware *and* g-p-m - this particualy bug is a bit of a saga,
although it has got lots of love in the last few days. It's quite
complex what was happening, but we've fixed it now.

The short answer is:
* do the patch to HAL, and
* wait a few hours until g-p-m 2.14.3 is released.
Using the hal patch, and 2.14.3 will fix the problem. I promise!
