Personalizing your desktop is not limited to changing themes and desktop backgrounds. You can change the icons you use for your system as well. To do this:

Go to SystemPreferencesAppearance.

Under the Theme tab, select the the theme you are currently using.

Click on the Customize button.

Under the Customize Theme window, click on the Icons tab. Select the icon theme you wish to use.

Click Close to go back to the Appearance Preferences window.

Click Close.

All changes made will be automatically reflected on your system.
