Here are the steps I took... Note: Starting out, I do not have an Exchange account in Evolution, disabled or otherwize. I've removed previous attempts, since they didn't work, anyways. [mhw canyon ~]$ E2K_DEBUG=4 evolution >& evo.log 2>&1 Then under preferences I wend to add a new account. The first screen "Forward" worked fine. It had my full name and I entered my Internet Security Systems E-Mail address of mhw iss net, at which time the "Forward" button became functional. Next screen, I selected "Microsoft Exchange". My Username field was then blanked out and a OWA field appears (also blank). Entered "ADMIN\mhw" for user name. Entered "https://atlwebp01.iss.net/exchange/mhw" for OWA "Forward" is disabled, grayed out, Authenticate is enabled. Hit "Authenticate" and entered my password. Authenticate succeeds (no error). "Forward" is still disabled. Unable to proceed past this points under any circumstance. This is what I encounter any time I try and add an Exchange account. Next... Exited out of Evolution and killed all associated processes... Ran ximian-connector-setup the same way (no idea if E2K_DEBUG is applicable or not, but tried anyways - I got output in the log file). E2K_DEBUG=4 ximian-connector-setup-2.6 > evo_con.log 2>&1 Sooo... First screen - Forward. Next screen: OWA URL: https://atlwebp01.iss.net/exchange/mhw Username: ADMIN\mhw (the mhw was already there - Added ADMIN\ or, I remember, the global catalog stuff would fail on a subsequent screen). Password: My password... Select "Remember this password" "Forward" becomes enabled when I've entered the password. Next screen, asks for global catalog server GC Server: atldom001.iss.net "Forward" becomes enabled. Next screen displays my Full Name and E-Mail address. Forward then takes me to the "Done" screen. Apply completes. Re-envoke evolution... [mhw canyon ~]$ E2K_DEBUG=4 evolution >& evo-2.log 2>&1 I get prompted for my domain password for the Exchange account, even though I told it to save. I enter the proper password and it complains that "Could not authenticate to server. (Password incorrect?)". "Ok" out of error notification. Enter preferences and edit the account in question... When I hit "Edit" I get "Could not read out-of-office state". "Ok" past that. Select "Receiving E-Mail" tab. OWA URL: http://atlmaiwebp01.iss.net/exchange/mhw (Note loss of https - damn). If I hit authenticate at this point, I get the above authentication error. If I change the http: to https: in the OWA URL, the "Ok" button becomes grayed out. If I hit "Authenticate" now, I do NOT get the authentication error, authentication has aparently succeeded, but the damn Ok button is still gray. Once again, there is no way I can proceed beyond this point and I have to hit cancel. Additional note... In ximian-connector-setup-2.6, if I only enter "https://atlmaiwebp01.iss.net/exchange" for the OWA URL, I do not end up with "http://atlmaiwebp01.iss.net/exchange/mhw" as I do when I included the /mhw at the end of the URL, I end up with an OWA URL of http://atlmaiwebp01.iss.net/exchange/pgp-keys instead. That "pgp-keys" is a distribution list / folder I "own" in exchange but it is not my mailbox and can not be logged into under any circumstance. IAC, altering anything in the OWA URL under "Receiving E-Mail" results in the Ok button grayed out with no way to re-enable it. I have also tried this with both "Plaintext Password" and "Secure Password" on that tab. Both authenticate with https and neither authenticate with http. Next weird twist to the tail... If I change the https: back to http: and try to authenticate, I don't get the same authentication error. I get an error that it "Could not connect to server. Make sure the URL is correct and try again." This is a different error message! It's almost like it connected over SSL the first time but could not authenticate. Then it could authenticate once I had corrected the URL (but could not proceed). Then it couldn't contact the server at all (which is what I expect, given our setup) if I changed it back to http:. Now, after shutting down that debugging run and restarting Evolution, I just noticed another peculiarity... Not only do I get prompted for my password, inspite of specifying to remember the password, I get prompted twice. The first time I missed initially because it shows up before Evolution is even up with the main screen and then the main screen overlays it and I missed it. It's a smaller dialog asking me for the password to "mhw iss net". I enter that password and it seems happy with that one (no error). Then I get a second password prompt, but this time it's a larger dialog asking for the password to my full domain account "Enter password for ADMIN\mhw atlmaiwebp01 iss net". That then comes back with an error saying it could not scan the folders and that maybe the password was wrong. (It's worth noting that I have several imap accounts, including this one, mhw wittsend com, already in Evolution, including an imap one named mhw iss net, but that doesn't seem to be making any difference.) It looks like I'm not always prompted for that first password. Exiting Evolution and restarting, it's now only prompting me for the second password. After several runs, it looks like if I "cancel" on that second password request, I'm prompted both times the next time around. If I enter a password on that second prompt and get the authentication failure, then I'm going to be prompted both times when I reinvoke Evolution. And I'm not even sure that's consistent with what I'm seeing. Sometimes is asks me both times and sometimes it just gives me the later prompot. I ran this and dumped it to "evo-3.log" where all I did was start evolution and got prompted for the password both times and then quit evolution after getting the authentication failure message.
