Rebooting from old kernel does not help. I still have the working setup at my office - I haven't upgraded anything. Do you have suggestions for a controlled update to see which package breaks it? Any ideas about the guilty package? Would it be a codec problem, with the audio sped up like that? Or a sound driver? No alsa or pa stuff that I recognized was upgraded. I checked sound recorder, and that works normally (as does rhythmbox). Do you always or most often receive the dialogue box about "Ekiga did not manage to configure..." when starting ekiga 4.0.0? But with 4.0.1? With 4.0.0, has it worked with several outgoing and incoming calls, or you have tested only once (calling once 500 at ekiga.net for ex.)? Please do several tests, call and receive calls, and only afterwards answer this e-mail. I ask this because I am told that BOTH releases do not work for you in fact. As soon as the dialogue box appear (if it appears occasionally, say 10% of the time, then this is not a problem), the port forwarding does not function properly. In this case we try to PREVENT you from registering, since even if you do register, you will certainly have communication problems (non audio/video most of the time when calling or when called). -- Eugen From Eugen.Dedu at pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr Mon Mar 11 17:23:18 2013 From: Eugen.Dedu at pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr (Eugen Dedu) Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2013 18:23:18 +0100 Subject: [Ekiga-list] Unable to register - 606 Not Acceptable error In-Reply-To: References: <512418AD.3050808@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <5128A5DC.2080605@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <513DC344.5010701@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> Message-ID: <513E1306.1080101@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> On 11/03/13 13:02, Valentina Manea wrote: > On Mon, Mar 11, 2013 at 1:43 PM, Eugen Dedu > wrote: >> > >> > >> > Can you replace: >> > } else { >> > by >> > } { >> > in lib/engine/components/opal/opal-call-manager.cpp, line 861 and afterwards >> > tell me if ekiga registers? It does register indeed, but I am told that the problem is that you cannot communicate reliably (you cannot be called for say 90% of calls). Could you confirm? This appears as long as you have the window with port forwarding error. Note that this window can appear occasionnally, but the problem above is when this window always appears. Since I do not want to repeatedly install one version of Ekiga over the other and repeat the same tests over and over, I will just say that each test was repeated MANY times in each mode on each version of the program. The exact chronology of the actions taken and results observed is depicted exactly in this thread. Reading all entries from the start should answer your questions. But, for your convenience, here are my answers again: On 3/11/2013 10:21 AM, Eugen Dedu wrote: > Polaris, you wrote that ekiga 4.0.0 works, but ekiga 4.0.1 does not. > 4.0.0 worked better than 4.0.1. 01 couldn't even register to Ekiga.net and not even an echo test worked. But 00 never worked fully either - echo and call back tests worked (with video present) but calls to another person (only one person was called and calls were recieved from him multiple times within 30 minutes) only worked without video (ie: voice only). Only once, for a brief instant I saw an image of the other person at the very beginning of the call. After that the image disappeared and the call continued in voice only. The results of that test were described in February's thread: "Ekiga test today". > Do you always or most often receive the dialogue box about "Ekiga did > not manage to configure..." when starting ekiga 4.0.0? This was the case on BOTH computers tested (desktop and laptop both of which were behind the same firewall of my gateway). The required ports on my firewall (m0n0wall) were opened manually and verified as being open with PF Port Checker from both computers. > With 4.0.0, has it worked with several outgoing and incoming calls, or > you have tested only once (calling once 500 at ekiga.net for ex.)? > After I first installed 4.0.0, both echo and call back tests always worked with video (repeated MANY times). After I installed 4.0.1 over 4.0.0, nothing worked even once. Then two things were done: I installed Skype and installed 4.0.0 over 4.0.1 (don't remember which was done first). The roll back was done as per your request to run the -d 4 log on 4.0.0. But after the rollback, 4.0.0 didn't work as before. The echo test now always works with audio only (never with video) and the call back test now never works: Ekiga hangs as soon as I "pick up" after the system calls me back and this happens every time. > Please do several tests, call and receive calls, and only afterwards > answer this e-mail. > > I ask this because I am told that BOTH releases do not work for you in > fact. For example, a command to mute the loudspeaker > output of the soundcard. I would second that request. Even better, would be to run a user script on events. For example on Answer I would have "/local/bin/phone answer" which would boost audio output, un-mute micphone and change mic level. On hangup I would have "/local/bin/phone hangup" which return audio output to normal, reset mic level and mute it. I can see how a deaf person would like to run a script to blink lights upon ring or incoming call so they know get in front of the web cam and answer a call. But I prioritise bug fixing (connection issues, crashes etc.) before doing enhancements. So I would postpone this feature for after 4.2.0, feel free to recall us about that once 4.2.0 is released. -- Eugen From S.GALLARDO at crbn.fr Fri Mar 22 08:20:17 2013 From: S.GALLARDO at crbn.fr (GALLARDO Sebastian) Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2013 08:20:17 +0000 Subject: [Ekiga-list] Call immediatly Hang up In-Reply-To: <513C9492.4030300@seconix.com> References: <5134C45E.6040707@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <5135C84A.8080600@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <513B183C.3070006@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <513C6A9C.7080803@seconix.com> <513C856C.8000305@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <513C9492.4030300@seconix.com> Message-ID: thank you for answer, So why whithin another sip client software like today SFLphone or on WIndows within Xlite, i do'nt have this problem ?? More concretely, I would like to know how to call them/chat with them. According to the wikipedia, Xmeeting is compatible with ekiga. When I edit the roster element, I add Name: John Doe Address: h323:JohnDoe at spranto.net The user seems to be added, but I cannot call it and the "message" entry from the right-menu is not available. What am I doing wrong? I can call that user (dbl click or right-click) but "User not found", which means that user does not exist. Does it exist? According to manual http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Manual#Sending_instant_messages_.28chatting.29: "You can also exchange text messages with H.323 Ekiga users, but only while being in a call. No, that name I made up. I was in particular asking about the correct way to configure ekiga to connect with an xmeeting user. I created an h.323 account too and added it to ekiga, because I was assuming that I need one to communicate with the Xmeeting user. My second question, then, is whether my assumptions are correct. To sum up: 1- Will I be able to talk with Mac users using Xmeeting? 2- Do I need an h.323 account for that, or can I do that from sip (ekiga.net)? 3- How's the configuration on the Mac user side to communicate with me? 4- And an additional question, out of topic: Can I define a configuration ekiga folder elsewhere als $HOME/.gconf/apps/ekiga? Thanks for the replies and help! Theoretically yes, practically you should. You should try. > 2- Do I need an h.323 account for that, or can I do that from sip (ekiga.net)? You cannot communicate with a contact having a h323 account, using a sip account. > 3- How's the configuration on the Mac user side to communicate with me? It is easy. You have to create a compatible account, for ex. a sip (or a h323) account in the same server. For ex. you are one at ekiga.net and he is two at ekiga.net. Each of you have to configure its software to register to his account. For best experience use 4.0.1 release of ekiga. > 4- And an additional question, out of topic: Can I define a > configuration ekiga folder elsewhere als $HOME/.gconf/apps/ekiga? I do not think so. Ekiga uses gconf, and it is gconf which uses that directory. Maybe you can make $HOME/.gconf/apps/ekiga a symbolic link to another directory, if it is ok for you. > On Fri, Mar 22, 2013 at 10:02 AM, Eugen Dedu > wrote: >> On 22/03/13 09:50, Pau wrote: >>> >>> Hi, >>> >>> I would like to know how to add Xmeeting users on OSX and with an >>> h.323 account (spranto.net) to the ekiga address book. >>> >>> More concretely, I would like to know how to call them/chat with them. >>> >>> According to the wikipedia, Xmeeting is compatible with ekiga. >>> >>> When I edit the roster element, I add >>> >>> Name: John Doe >>> Address: h323:JohnDoe at spranto.net >>> >>> The user seems to be added, but I cannot call it and the "message" >>> entry from the right-menu is not available. >> >> >> I can call that user (dbl click or right-click) but "User not found", which >> means that user does not exist. Value [CT4830] (2) (PTLIB/ALSA) ptlib pulse plugin (PTLIB/Pulse) but no matter which one I set, ringing and conversation are always played on the same front output. :-( Perhaps somebody knows how to have Ekiga separating playback devices ?
