In the same way, Ekiga-3.2.7 asks for libpt.so.2.6-beta8 but the library provided by ptlib-2.6.7 is libpt.so.2.6.7. I even decided to use it for all of my VoIP communication. However, before taking that step, I need to figure out where Ekiga keeps its settings and where it saves the contact list. I recently had to transfer all my files to a new computer and thought that copying over .gconf/apps/ekiga would do the job. However, after running Ekiga on the new system for the first time, I found that none of my data was present. Ekiga came up and presented me with the configuration wizard, as if I had run it for the first time. Since I tend to keep a lot (100+) of contacts and phone numbers in my contact list, being able to back up Ekiga's data is essential for me. I was hoping that someone more knowledgable than me could give me a hint on how to back up all of Ekiga's configuration data, so I can transfer it to my new system. Thanks in advance! When you run the initial configuration assistant (wizard), on the screen where it asks for your sip account, _DON'T_ enter anything, but check the checkbox that you don't want to register a sip address and go on. It's not very clear, but it appears that page is for you to register a _new_ address that has never been registered before. I think I had to also delete my saved configuration in the ~/.gconf/apps/ekiga to get it to let me start over from scratch. After I got through the configuration assistant, I added the pre-existing sip account through edit -> accounts or something similar. Then again, I'm trying to use 3.2.6, so it might be different. (The UI for that part of the configuration assistant could be made more clear...) Good luck with the network configuration. I'm still battling that issue myself. It appears 500 at ekiga.net is often down, which complicates the issue. At the moment, I'm am able to connect a call, but there's no audio output, even though I am able to hear test plays of wav files. Thanks in advance! The configuration, including contact list, is indeed in .gconf/apps/ekiga (contacts sub-directory). Be sure you have killed gconf on destination machine right before making the copy, since gconf has a cache. -- Eugen From geo.cherchetout at laposte.net Mon Jun 6 14:56:47 2011 From: geo.cherchetout at laposte.net (geo cherchetout) Date: Mon, 06 Jun 2011 16:56:47 +0200 Subject: [Ekiga-list] Can't connect to robot sipomatic In-Reply-To: <4DE550E6.2070501@laposte.net> References: <4DE550E6.2070501@laposte.net> Message-ID: <4DECEAAF.7090405@laposte.net> Le 31/05/2011 22:34, I wrote: > Ekiga 3.2.7 and sipomatic are running on the same machine with Mandriva > 2010.2 32 bits distribution. > Stun is disabled. To-day I dumped streams on lo interface with wireshark while calling sipomatic robot. The main difference I see between Ekiga's calls and Linphone's ones is that, using Ekiga, rtp streams go from 127.0.0.1 to 127.0.0.1 while, using successfully Linphone, rtp streams go from 192.168.1.6 to 192.168.1.6. Perhaps this is the beginning of an indication ? Ah, yes, there it is, in italics in the middle lines of a paragraph. I try to read and follow the instructions, but I missed it. I suspect other users might also miss it. I would offer a few suggestions for consideration: Change the heading of page 3 of 8 to something like "Create a New Ekiga.net Account". The same could be done to the heading on page 4 of 8. Change the font in the two paragraphs from icalic to normal. At last on my monitor, that would make it easier to read. Add to the second paragraph so it reads something like this: You may skip this step if you already have an ekiga.net address, if you you an alternative SIP service, or if you would prefer to specify the login details later. With user interface issues, the key is not simply to make it possible for the user to understand; the key is to make is impossible for the user to not understand. > > Good luck with the network configuration. Attaching gzipped -d 4 output. When I terminate the call by using the 'hangup' menu selection, the process appears to get very large and run into problems. It asks whether to abort or dump core. Attaching new gzipped -d 4 output. When I terminate the call by using the 'hangup' menu selection, the process appears to get very large and run into problems. The 'top' program showed the ekiga process with a virtual size of about 1.9GB and a resident size of about 0.9GB. The (2003-era) machine has 1GB of RAM. After a while, it asks whether to abort or dump core. This time, I tried dumping core to see what that would do. System load average shot up above 10, 'vmstat' showed that the machine was thrashing, and the core file ended up about 1.9GB in size. I'm currently trying to use the Ekiga 3.2.6 that came with Mandriva 2010.0. I looked through the -d 4 output, but I don't know how to interpret it to tell what the problem might be with the audio. A quick look at the logs shows that it was the Tandberg that dropped the call. So, we have to determine why it might do this. Dropouts near the 30 second mark are sometimes due to one end dropping the call because they have not received media. This may be due to a codec mismatch, or a NAT problem, or even lack of support for RTCP. I would start with a simple call, say G.711 only, and see if that works. If it does, try adding video but use low bandwidth and try different codecs. Note that the Opal H.261 codec is very, very simple-minded. The problem is while the Tandberg supports many codecs Ekiga only had Theora and H.261 installed on Redhat. Many hours later after compiling up a version of Opal that has all the nice codecs I finally go to try one of the others and they are ALL flagged SIP only no H.323!! Is there a way to make the other video codecs work with H.323? The Tandberg units support: Digital Signaling Protocol: H.323, H.320 Data Compression Protocol: G.711, G.728, G.722, H.261, H.263, H.264, H.263+ So SIP is not an option. Thanks Dave. Sorry to answer so late. ptlib/opal libraries evolve continuously without retaining backward compatibility. So it is generally impossible to use an old ekiga with new ptlib/opal. If you really wish to do it, look at http://git.gnome.org/browse/ekiga/log/ and search for changes fixing your compilation errors. For ex., for your errors look at: http://git.gnome.org/browse/ekiga/commit/?id=72d7b95bd8df3b667 http://git.gnome.org/browse/ekiga/commit/?id=6eb6995892c49226 etc. I would really advise to use 3.3.0 (or the very soon 3.3.1). If you have problems with gtk or other lib dependency (which one?), I think it is better to use ekiga 3.3.0/1 and revert changes which push the dependencies. Finally, I am not sure that updating ptlib/opal will allow you to use H323, I suppose that ekiga too needs a modification. Whether this modification consists in only ekiga.schemes change (adding H323 to the codecs concerned) or other changes, I could not answer yet... > There seem to be only a few issues with the 3.2.7 compile and I hope > someone has some patches i can apply to make the above combo work. > > The errors I get are: > > bash-4.1$ make -k 2>&1 | grep error > /site/local/programs/ekiga-exp/x86_64-linux/include/opal/opal/connection.h:1852: > error: ‘virtual ptlib_virtual_function_changed_or_removed****** > OpalConnection::IsConnectionOnHold()’ is private > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/opal-call.cpp:157: error: within > this context > /site/local/programs/ekiga-exp/x86_64-linux/include/opal/opal/connection.h:1859: > error: ‘virtual ptlib_virtual_function_changed_or_removed****** > OpalConnection::HoldConnection()’ is private > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/opal-call.cpp:159: error: within > this context > /site/local/programs/ekiga-exp/x86_64-linux/include/opal/opal/connection.h:1860: > error: ‘virtual ptlib_virtual_function_changed_or_removed****** > OpalConnection::RetrieveConnection()’ is private > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/opal-call.cpp:161: error: within > this context > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/opal-call.cpp:480: error: > ‘EndedWithQ931Code’ is not a member of ‘OpalConnection’ > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/sip-endpoint.h:183: error: > conflicting return type specified for ‘virtual void > Opal::Sip::EndPoint::OnMessageFailed(const SIPURL&, > SIP_PDU::StatusCodes)’ > /site/local/programs/ekiga-exp/x86_64-linux/include/opal/sip/sipep.h:1034: > error: overriding ‘virtual > ptlib_virtual_function_changed_or_removed****** > SIPEndPoint::OnMessageFailed(const SIPURL&, SIP_PDU::StatusCodes)’ > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/sip-endpoint.h:183: error: > conflicting return type specified for ‘virtual void > Opal::Sip::EndPoint::OnMessageFailed(const SIPURL&, > SIP_PDU::StatusCodes)’ > /site/local/programs/ekiga-exp/x86_64-linux/include/opal/sip/sipep.h:1034: > error: overriding ‘virtual > ptlib_virtual_function_changed_or_removed****** > SIPEndPoint::OnMessageFailed(const SIPURL&, SIP_PDU::StatusCodes)’ > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/sip-endpoint.h:183: error: > conflicting return type specified for ‘virtual void > Opal::Sip::EndPoint::OnMessageFailed(const SIPURL&, > SIP_PDU::StatusCodes)’ > /site/local/programs/ekiga-exp/x86_64-linux/include/opal/sip/sipep.h:1034: > error: overriding ‘virtual > ptlib_virtual_function_changed_or_removed****** > SIPEndPoint::OnMessageFailed(const SIPURL&, SIP_PDU::StatusCodes)’ > ../../../../lib/engine/components/opal/sip-endpoint.cpp:355: error: no > matching function for call to ‘Opal::Sip::EndPoint::Message(const > std::basic_string, std::allocator >&, > const std::basic_string, > std::allocator >&)’ From chandrashekaran.iyer at gmail.com Sun Jun 26 14:42:36 2011 From: chandrashekaran.iyer at gmail.com (Chandrashekaran Iyer) Date: Sun, 26 Jun 2011 20:12:36 +0530 Subject: [Ekiga-list] Problems Message-ID: Hello Ekiga Team, I believe Ekiga is a great programme.
