[Ekiga-list] Windoekigws on a laptop

I am trying to use Ekiga on a Sony Laptop running XP and find the audio 
noisy and difficult to use. I use the same unit with Skype and it works 
well so I am discounting the hardware.
I have read in a newsgroup or in the FAQ that this is not an unusual 
situation or problem but there is no mention I can find of a solution.
Does anyone know if this setup should work or really if it does work.
